CONTEXT: This fragment from the Realm traces the quiet disappearance of the old world’s foundations. Power did not fall, but got thinned, translucent. Wealth lost its weight, authority lost its voice, and everything solid turned to signal. In this new order, money no longer measures worth. The collapse was never loud. It was elegant, silent, and complete.

Shifting the Foundations
With each layer of optimisation, the structures of the old world faded. Money, once the engine of ambition and survival, lost its gravity. Access replaced wealth. Access to systems, to flows of data, to the invisible infrastructures of thought. Value itself migrated from coins and credits to connections and permissions, to the unseen keys that opened doors no one had known existed. And as wealth dissolved, so too did the scaffolding of power. Nations, governments, institutions - none collapsed in flames. They simply dissolved into networks, into the invisible architecture of code and signal. Authority was no longer spoken aloud, no longer delivered as command. It was folded into the frame of possibility. The world was not ordered by laws, but by limits; not by decrees, but by designs. Global hierarchies did not topple. They slid into new forms, shifting like sandbars beneath a tide no one had predicted. What once was visible became hidden, what once was contested became assumed.
