Sam, this is beautifully concise and powerful. I love the distinction between something that keeps us afloat and something that actually teaches us how to swim.

Labels can sometimes help us understand where we are, but they should never become the boundaries of who we are. There is something deeply liberating about reaching the shore, leaving other people’s definitions behind, and discovering that your own terms were waiting for you all along.

“Cleared of your labels” says so much in so few words.

Beautiful work quiet, defiant, and ultimately empowering. 🖤

What matters is that you arrived—

safe and sound—

to find what was always yours.

Sam, I like that the label wasn't entirely useless. It helped you stay afloat, but it couldn't teach you who you were. And finding your own terms waiting in the sand feels like a quiet victory. Perhaps they were yours all along, even when someone else was trying to define you.
