How do I feel? I thought publishing a book would feel like arrival. It did not. It felt more like standing in a dark room, finger on a button, realizing that once I press it, there is no taking it back.
Um, how do I make this short? At a very early age I got shoved into writing when I really wanted to paint and probably would've done some sculpting or now what's called mixed media. According to the adults in my life I was supposed to become a writer, especially poetry, even in college as an older than average adult. But the visual art in my soul is strong and finally burst out.
However, having spent all those years on writing, I'm much better at writing than art. But often I despise writing. But....the poetry, the stories, they're all there. In my faith, I consider them gifts from God, so, finally, I got myself a cheap blank hard bound sketchbook and every morning as part of my devotions I write one poem even if it's only one haiku. Don't care if it's "good" or not, I just do it. Lately I've also allowed myself to go back and work on the ones that I feel maybe have some merit for others to read and I note the date I do that.
I'm a writer.
Not happy about it, but I am.
I'm also a painter, a visual story maker, not very good at it, but I am.
Occasionally I'm even a musician/songwriter.
I'm an oversensitive old woman who's a self-contained multimedia center who most people could care less about.
Just need an upstairs room in an old house or abbey somewhere with plenty of windows. 😁
Keep Writing. Keep Being Your Self.
I'm copying and saving this so I don't have to tap it out in my phone again. 😂
It feels like our lives are mainly about finding our way back to our core, about learning to listen to our creative needs and follow our own rhythm.
Your path is really something. I cannot imagine having adults pushing me to write. I know we all have this story of waisting years, talent and passion on others wants and needs.
It makes me happy to hear that you now have your own multimedia space to do your thing, what ever it is.
Your tone is really supportive and authentic. I truly appreciate you taking time to encourage me and others.
Your experiences are worth sharing, so please, keep sharing..
Can't wait to read it.

Remember Emily D.
That's a valid point, Ritagail. And I'll keep writing. Now that I got this publishing stuff out of my way, I can hyperfocus on my poetry again.
Emily, she sure left a dent—

Fair point, Maya. Thank you for reminding me on this. I bet it's just this moment, next one will be easier.
The best flower always wins. 🤌
