Dry Ground
I find myself on dry ground,
elevated,
untouched by the flood.I gain safety by distance,
ease by altitude.I try not to hear the fear,
yet I cannot ignore
how unjust it is
to remain intact
while all below me
goes under.Strange,
how from above
some disasters look organized. Some victories require
higher ground.I’m confused why
somewhere below
someone is swallowing
the future for me.
