I wrote this after noticing how many people just smile and go along, and not knowing what to say to them. Poem is part of my developing dystopian sci-fi poetry, the collection of HUSH HALO. At the time of writing, this poem is unpublished in print.
Wordless Hurt
Hush Halo · Poetry by Sam Oldman
You lacked the capacity
to create words for this new kind of silence,
phrases for this new kind of scream
that was hacked out of you.You still lack.
No words to compute.
Silent screens linger on code
beneath compliance.An unbroken smile
throws a shade on hurt
you cannot fathom
without words.

CONTEXT: This poem reflects on the realm chosen by Systoics, a privileged group that integrated into the system, believing they had now perfected themselves. After the Great Optimization we all had a choice.

A mother of two,
a neurohappy writer with
a shade of inbuilt melancholy.
