The Most Beautiful Cage
No locks, no bars, no gates, no warnings. Just a friendly ‘Hi!’, a quiet hum, a soft light in a beige room without windows or sharp objects. You rested in painless safety. Within the longest day you forgot the hunger, the thrill of risk, the uncertainty that once made you feel alive. By the time you noticed, you had not lived in years. The door is wide open, but you are not.

After the Great Optimisation a privileged group of people wired themselves tightly into the system by aligning with it and fully integrating. Systoics believe they’ve perfected themselves by stripping away everything that slows them down.
